Funky Vintage

Welcome to Funky Vintage. If you're looking to give an old piece a fresh new look, or you're after something truly unique, you've come to the right place.

We specialise in reimagining vintage furniture giving tired pieces a fresh, modern twist. If you have a piece you'd love to update, we offer a bespoke Commission Service to help bring your vision to life.

We also offer one-of-a-kind statement pieces that we’ve carefully sourced, restored, and redesigned perfect for adding warmth, character, and style to any space. We only work with pieces handpicked for their exceptional quality and timeless charm.

If you'd like to see our current available pieces waiting in the wings for restoration, then please visit “Available for Commissions” section on our Furniture page.

Not quite ready to commit? Our Furniture Redesign Service lets you explore our design ideas before deciding whether to take on the transformation yourself or have us do it for you.

Why Chose Funky Vintage?

There's something incredibly special about not giving up on quality old furniture just because it lacks modern curb appeal. We take on a wide range of projects simply because we love reimagining dated pieces, breathing new life into them.

It goes far beyond a quick paint job! Every piece we work on is its own design project guided by creative vision and shaped by principles of colour theory, scale, form, and composition. We often start without a fixed outcome in mind, experimenting with different ideas and combinations until we hit that “yes, this is it” moment. The process is intuitive but always rooted in the character of the piece its era, its shape, and the details that deserve to be celebrated (or sometimes softened).

As Charles Eames once said, “The details are not the details. They make the design.” That quote really resonates with us. Every decision from the diameter of a hand-painted line to the material of a drawer pull is deliberate. It’s this level of thought and attention to detail that makes our pieces feel truly special.

Kelley -  My creative roots trace back to childhood, growing up in county Kildare, Ireland I was fascinated by writing stories my first real insight into how much I loved using my imagination. I also spent weekends at car boot sales with my grandmother, completely enchanted by the vintage treasures we’d find. Those early experiences gave me a deep appreciation for character, history, and the beauty in things that others might overlook.

Over time, that love evolved into a passion for interiors and vintage design and in 2024, with my children being more independent, I decided to follow that passion more seriously. I enrolled in a Professional Interior Design Diploma with the National Design Academy, studying at their Nottingham studio. Thankfully I passed! I can now officially refer to myself as an Interior Designer but I often call myself a Furniture Upcycler. Honestly, it doesn't really matter to me, I'm just grateful to truly enjoy my work and that customers return with additional projects.

Yvonne - I got the upcycling bug in 2020 and have been restoring and painting furniture since. I love deep jewel tones and retro, quirky designs which make a statement! Why have boring furniture when you can create something unique? I've always loved arts and crafts and have dabbled in many over the years. With a background in teaching I've always thought about delivering workshops in upcycling; so I was delighted when Kelley asked me to get involved! I cant wait to share the skills I've learnt over the years with other creatives!
